Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett III (born January 14, 1948) is an American record producer, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was a guitarist in Bob Dylan's band during the 1970s. Burnett has won several Grammy Awards for his work on film soundtracks, including O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Cold Mountain (2004), Walk the Line (2005), and Crazy Heart (2010). He won another Grammy for producing the album Raising Sand (2007), in which he merged the contemporary bluegrass of Alison Krauss with the blues rock sound of Led Zeppelin's lead vocalist Robert Plant.

As a producer, Burnett has worked on formative or breakthrough albums by artists including Los Lobos, Counting Crows, Sam Phillips, and Gillian Welch, and later produced albums by Gregg Allman, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, Elton John, Sara Bareilles, and Ringo Starr. He produced music for television programs including Nashville and True Detective. He has released several solo studio albums as a producer, including Tooth of Crime (2008), which he wrote for a revival of the 1972 musical play The Tooth of Crime (by Sam Shepard).

Joseph Burnett, dit T-Bone Burnett, est un producteur et musicien américain, né le 14 janvier 1948 à Saint-Louis au Missouri.

Il commence sa carrière musicale à Los Angeles en 1972. Il joue notamment pour Bob Dylan, participant à la Rolling Thunder Revue (1975-1976), et avec Alpha jusqu'en 1979.

Musicien unanimement reconnu par ses pairs, il est aussi connu pour ses talents de producteur. Il a ainsi produit notamment Roy Orbison, BoDeans, Peter Case, Elvis Costello, Los Lobos, Marshall Crenshaw, Gillian Welch, Elton John, Counting Crows. En tant que musicien, il a composé les bandes originales des films O'Brother et Inside Llewyn Davis, ainsi que la chanson Scarlett Tide du film Retour à Cold Mountain, qui lui vaudra sa première nomination à l'Oscar de la meilleure chanson originale. 2010 est l'année de la consécration pour T-Bone, qui obtiendra l'Oscar de la meilleure chanson originale pour The Weary Kind du film Crazy Heart. Depuis, il a travaillé avec Robert Plant et Alison Krauss, produisant leur premier album Raising Sand sorti en 2007, sur lequel il joue aussi les guitares électrique et acoustique ainsi que la basse six cordes. Puis en 2020, il remet les couverts en produisant leur deuxième effort ensemble, intitulé Raise the Roof, et il joue la guitare, la basse six cordes et le mellotron.
