Mike and the Mechanics (stylisé comme Mike + The Mechanics) est un supergroupe britannique de rock formé à Douvres en 1985 par Mike Rutherford, initialement comme projet parallèle pendant une période d'interruption pour son autre groupe Genesis. Le groupe est connu pour les singles à succès Silent Running, All I Need Is a Miracle, Taken In, The Living Years, Word of MoutH et Over My Shoulder.

Initialement, le groupe comprend Rutherford à la guitare et à la basse, les chanteurs Paul Carrack et Paul Young, le claviériste Adrian Lee et le batteur Peter Van Hooke. Après une décennie, Lee et Van Hooke quittent le groupe en 1995 et ne sont pas remplacés. Après la mort de Young en 2000, Carrack devient le seul chanteur du groupe jusqu'en 2004, date à laquelle Mike and the Mechanics — essentiellement un duo à ce stade — se sépare d'un commun accord.

En 2010, le groupe est relancé, avec Rutherford en meneur d'une nouvelle formation, laquelle comprend les chanteurs Andrew Roachford et Tim Howar, le guitariste irlandais Anthony Drennan qui a joué précédemment avec The Corrs et Genesis lors de la reformation pour l'album Calling All Stations, et le batteur Gary Wallis que l'on a vu précédemment avec Pink Floyd. Cette formation enregistre l'album The Road, sorti en avril 2011, suivi en 2017 par Let Me Fly et en 2019 par Out of the Blue.

Mike and the Mechanics (stylised as Mike + The Mechanics) are an English rock band formed in Dover in 1985 by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford, initially as a side project during a hiatus period for his other group. They are known for the hit singles "Silent Running", "All I Need Is a Miracle", "Taken In", "The Living Years", "Word of Mouth", "Over My Shoulder" and "Now That You've Gone".

Initially, the band included Rutherford (the only constant member), vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young, keyboardist Adrian Lee, and drummer Peter Van Hooke. After a decade together, Lee and Van Hooke dropped out in 1995 and were not replaced. Following Young's death in 2000, Carrack became the band's sole lead vocalist until 2004 when the band (essentially a duo at this point) dissolved, with Rutherford and Carrack both agreeing the band had "run its course". In 2010, the band was revived with Rutherford headlining a completely new set of musicians, including vocalists Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar.
