Michael « Mike » Scott (né le 14 décembre 1958 à Édimbourg, en Écosse) est le créateur et l'auteur des textes du groupe rock The Waterboys. Il a aussi produit deux albums solo, Bring 'em All In et Still Burning. Scott est un chanteur, un guitariste et un pianiste accompli ; et il a joué un grand nombre d'autres instruments tels que du bouzouki (famille du luth), de la batterie, et de l'Orgue Hammond sur ses albums.

Sa carrière musicale a démarré dans les années 1970 et continue aujourd'hui. Scott a été décrit par Peter Anderson comme « a madman or genius, depending on your point of view » (« un fou ou un génie, selon le point de vue ») dans le magazine Record Collector, et est bien connu pour ses changements radicaux de genre musical tout au long de ce que Scott appelle sa « allegedly unorthodox » (« prétendument peu orthodoxe ») carrière.

Scott est divorcé (d'Irene Keogh) et il s'est remarié avec l'artiste japonaise Megumi Igarashi.

Michael Scott (born 14 December 1958) is a Scottish singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the founding member, lead singer, guitarist, songwriter and only constant member of rock band The Waterboys. He has also produced two solo albums, Bring 'Em All In and Still Burning. Scott is a vocalist, guitarist and pianist, and has played a large range of other instruments, including the bouzouki, drums, and Hammond organ on his albums. Scott is also a published writer, having released his autobiography, Adventures of a Waterboy, in 2012.

Having begun a musical career in the 1970s, Scott has been making music professionally since the 1980s and is well known for his radical changes in music genres throughout what he refers to as his "allegedly unorthodox" career. Scott lives in Dublin, Ireland.
