Dimmu Borgir () is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Jessheim, formed in 1993. The name derives from Dimmuborgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, the name of which means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse. The band has been through numerous lineup changes over the years. Vocalist Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz are the only remaining original members.

Dimmu Borgir est un groupe de black metal symphonique norvégien, originaire d'Oslo. Formé en 1993, le groupe tire son nom d'une formation volcanique observée en Islande, à Dimmuborgir. Le groupe a subi de nombreux changements au niveau de ses membres, le guitariste Silenoz et le chanteur Shagrath restant les deux seuls membres fondateurs à l'heure actuelle.
