Defeated Sanity est un groupe allemand de death metal, originaire de Dachsbach, en Bavière. Formé en 1993 par le guitariste Wolfgang Teske et son fils, le batteur Lille Gruber. Le groupe est actuellement composé de Gruber (batterie), Jacob Schmidt (guitare basse), Josh Welshman (chant), et Vaughn Stoffey (guitare). Le groupe est connu pour son style de death metal très brutal, abrasif et complexe, tout en conservant des influences de jazz fusion. Le genre de Defeated Sanity a parfois été catégorisé comme death metal progressif.

En 2023, le groupe compte six albums studio : Prelude to the Tragedy (Grindethic Records, 2004), Psalms of the Moribund (Grindethic, 2007), Chapters of Repugnance (Willowtip Records, 2010), Passages into Deformity (Willowtip, 2013), Disposal of the Dead / Dharmata (Willowtip, 2016), et The Sanguinary Impetus (Willowtip, 2020). Le groupe compte également de nombreux promos, démos, et splits. Influencé par des groupes tels que Cannibal Corpse et Suffocation, leur style musical s'inspire principalement du metal extrême américain.
